Multilateral Wells

In 1999, IDEAS was extensively involved with ‘low level’ (ie. Level 1 & Level 2) multilaterals – principally conducting rock mechanics work in California, Cornwall UK and at Edinburgh University, Scotland regarding open-hole completions.

Over the years, we have been involved with increasingly complex multilateral drilling and completion up to Level 6 – ie. sealed junction technology.

Our QRA relating to the risks involved with Level 6 technology for a major operator in the North Sea was a landmark in risk identification, risk evaluation and resulting risk mitigation.
